The Istanbul city tour is a comprehensive full-day guided sightseeing experience, showcasing some of the most iconic landmarks in Istanbul:
Hagia Sophia Museum: Built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian, Hagia Sophia is renowned for its architectural significance. Originally a cathedral, it later served as a mosque during the Ottoman era and is now a museum. Its massive dome and historical significance make it a must-visit.
Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Mosque): Constructed in the 17th century, the Blue Mosque is famous for its stunning blue Iznik tiles adorning its interior. Notably, it is the only imperial mosque in the world initially built with six minarets. The intricate designs of its ceramic tiles and stained glass windows add to its beauty.
Hippodrome Square: Once the sporting and social center of old Byzantium, the Hippodrome Square hosted grand events and could accommodate up to 100,000 spectators. Highlights include the Kaiser Wilhelm II Fountain, Egyptian Obelisk, Serpent Column, and Constantine Porphyrogenitus.
Grand Covered Bazaar: As the largest and oldest covered bazaar globally, the Grand Bazaar was the heart of trade and commerce in Istanbul. With over 4,000 shops and 61 covered streets, it offers a vibrant cultural market where traditional and historical items are sold.
Topkapı Palace: Constructed between 1466 and 1478, Topkapı Palace was the primary residence of early and mid-era Ottoman Sultans. It served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire for centuries. Visitors will explore the Imperial Treasury, Baghdad Kiosk, Holy Relics, Kitchen Section, and the Harem, which was exclusively reserved for the Sultan.
Valide Mosque (New Mosque): Completed in the 17th century, the Valide Mosque is the last imperial mosque built in the classical style. With its main dome, four half domes, and two minarets, it exemplifies classical Ottoman architecture.
